From the time we are little children we have heard the word power used quite a lot. When our parents lost electricity to their homes, they informed us that they had lost “power”. When we played video games, as children, we kept close watch over our onscreen characters’ “power level”, knowing full well that when the levels were drained our games were nearly finished. World leaders control powerful armies and powerful economies. Chief Executive Officers controlling thousands of businesses have the power to create jobs or take them away.
Power is important, and there is nothing more powerful than the Lord we believe in, read about, and serve on a daily basis. The Bible is full of verses that try to explain the magnitude of the Lord’s power and majesty. 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NIV) has King David praising God with the following words: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted over all.”
In battles and military strategies, 2 Chronicles 32:7-8 (NIV) Hezekiah points out the importance of having the Lord on our side: “‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is great power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.”
Can you feel the power of God working in your life? When life seems to be testing your will to make it through each day, do you turn to the most powerful force in your life? The Bible, the Church, other believers, and thousands of Christian resources are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to demonstrate, invigorate, and remind us of the awesome power of the Lord.
We serve a God who has no limitations. He is the electric company with infinite fuel. He is the video game hero who will never drain his power level. He is the world leader who has the most powerful army and economy. And he is indeed the CEO responsible for all human endeavors.
God, through his Son, has given us the power to overcome the second death. Revelation 20:6 (NIV) explains the awesome power that is given to God’s children (NIV): “Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.”
Our belief in Jesus and his gift of salvation gives us the power to turn back eternal death. That blessed hope is a powerful thing. So when trials and tribulations come your way, seek out reassuring sources to remind you of where genuine power is seated; there you will find the One who has overcome all trials and tribulations.

I needed this so much today! What a timely message! I'm quite fortunate to be saved and have a relationship with the Lord at this particular time in my life... a time when there are things taking place in which my only hope for healing and recovery is in the power that is God's alone. Otherwise, I can't imagine where I'd be right now... terrified probably. But my hope is in the Lord. I will trust Him in all things and wait patiently for Him to execute vengence on the enemy on my behalf, a display of His power and manifestation of the healing that He promised me took place, not today, but upon the cross over 2000 years ago.
