We run for those we’ve lost to cancer,
For those we loved so much.
We run for those who have left us,
But also left their loving touch.
We run for those fighting the battle,
Those who choose not to give in.
Those who would rather fight for life,
Giving their all for the hopes of a win.
We run for those who are tired.
We want to make it known.
We’re here to show our support,
To let you know you’re not fighting alone.
Some of us here, have fought and won.
We’re survivors so they say.
We’ve changed how we look at each other,
Changed how we look at each day.
So today as we run this race,
We’ll be thinking back to memories gone by.
Some will laugh for the good times remembered,
Some will break down and cry.
But we’ll all be blessed throughout this event,
By the abundance of heartfelt caring,
By the stories of love and hope,
That no doubt we will be sharing.
And if anything is learned today,
It's “Don’t run from the trials and strife.
Stay in prayer, and stand tall.
Make it a RUN FOR LIFE”.
