And Mount Sinai
was wrapped in smoke,
because the Lord
descended upon it
in fire;
and the smoke of it
went up like the smoke
of a kiln, and
the whole mountain quaked greatly.

[DISTANT THUNDER]
"Hey, listen, Lord! You're
only good with the
nature stuff! Where are
You when it really COUNTS?"
[LIGHTENING FLASH.]
"Well, sure; some lightening,
here and there, is probably
no big deal. Remember,
Thomas Edison invented the
light bulb, Lord. I'm not
impressed."
[POUNDING RAIN.]
"I bet rain's not that
hard to do. How come
You can't just heal
everybody like that,
Lord? Huh? Maybe,
You're not as powerful
as they SAY!"
[MORE LIGHTENING.]
"WELL? I just don't
believe in You, sometimes,
Lord. Maybe, the world
IS just a bunch of science...."
[QUIET RAIN.]
"Maybe, it IS just atoms,
and molecules, and
nothing inbetween."
[LIGHTENING.
DISTANT, RUMBLING
THUNDER.]
"But....my heart has a painfully
deep yearning that I can't
explain - and I do so want to
believe in You.
(silence)
Maybe, it's too much to
hope for......
and, too good to be true."
"What is that, child?"
"That........
that, I could.....
have a Savior."
