It was the morning after our wedding day. We entered the beautiful restaurant in the hotel where we had spent the first night of our honeymoon. As we were being seated, there were many sights and scents to tempt us. We saw hot buttered biscuits, bright jellies, crisp bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, grits, fresh fruit, and even a variety of sweet rolls in this southern breakfast. My new husband whispered to me, "Remember our college budget. We can’t afford to order much at such an expensive place." So we had toast and jelly with coffee, while we watched others at nearby tables eat their delicious looking meals.
When we went to the cash register to pay the bill, the cashier asked us for our
room number. After we gave it to her, she said, "There will be no charge for your breakfast. It is free with the bridal suite." We still laugh forty-eight years later about the wonderful breakfast we missed because we did not know that the bill had already been paid.
So many people today carry needlessly a heavy weight of sin and guilt. The price for their peace has already been paid. God sent His Son into the world so that all might be saved and be eternally free from the burden of sin.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Your only Son to pay the price for our sins and give us the gift of eternal life. Help us to share this message with others.
