My child, remember that your life is in my hands.
Trials will come and go, but they are all part of my plan
For without them you’d remain content right in the same ol’ place
Never knowing that the thorns below brings the sufficiency of my grace
For just as the mother eagle desires for her baby to leave the nest
I desire for you to go out and will bring trials for the test
For the mother eagle starts with thorns and covers them with down
Then she spreads a comfort of feathers and grass and spreads it all around
Then little by little as her baby grows she pulls the comfort from his nest
Then the baby must leave or die before reaching the mountain’s crest
Then when that baby has left the nest and is ready now to fly
The mother will take him to the crest and will drop him from the sky
And you should see that awkward baby so scared and so unsure
He’ll try desperately to flap his wings but an eagle was called to soar
And just before it appears the baby will to hit the ground
In his ears he will hear a beautiful and gracious sound
His mother will call and let him know that she always there
And she’ll swoop just below that baby and in her wings he will take care
And over and over she will do this and in time you can see why
If the baby never left the nest, he would never learn to fly
