I repaired a much-loved pillow
for one of my favorite little ones;
it had been carried and played with for so very long
it was all coming completely undone.
I carefully took it all apart,
sewed around the edges of each part;
threw away what could no longer be salvaged,
and the rest I gave a new start.
I washed away the stains of play,
centered the front like a picture in a frame,
upon a square of brand new fabric
making it different, but still the same.
I re-pleated the ruffle around the edge,
leaving the signs of loving wear,
for I wanted to give it more years of life,
not take away the character that was already there.
When it was done, the changes I made
were mostly hidden and unseen,
only showing as a border, around the edges
the rest was strength behind the scenes.
It reminded me so of how God transformed
the tattered remnants of my life,
and made me over, though I still looked the same,
He gave me strength to handle trouble and strife.
It was the heart inside that Jesus re-created
washing me clean with His love so true,
and made me ready to fulfill the plans He had in mind
trusting Him, He knew I'd be able to love you.
Only then did he bring into my world,
brand new things, oh, an entire new life,
for when we met and fell in love,
my greatest joy was becoming your wife!
Although I may be tattered around the edges,
inside my fabric is brand new,
and every day I rejoice all over again,
that you love me and I LOVE YOU!

So creative! But that's you, as usual. I love this line: "Although I may be tattered around the edges,
inside my fabric is brand new," I'm so, so thankful that inside my fabric is brand new too!
