A Pharisee invited Jesus to his home for a sabbath dinner,
Jesus and His Disciples were deceptively welcomed and cautiously entered,
Religious were in hopes to cause doctrine clash and splinter,
To catch Jesus in error and to declare Him a dissenter.
A man with heart problems, Jesus met, who came along the way,
Jesus questioned all there, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Day?"
Pharisee leaders sensed a trap so maintained their silent sway,
Their absolute authority would not be crossed by this dissident today.
Then Jesus, set the man in front of all, applied His healing in open display,
His actions caused questions of long-standing tradition to fall away,
Jesus was showing that religious law without provision of mercy purvey,
Was binding laws too hard resulted in corruption and leading man astray.
Jesus teaching threatened upheaval within Jewish religious society,
His teaching was contrary to usual preapproved propriety,
Elders inclined to listen to Jesus caused leaders even more heightened anxiety,
But Jesus knew their hearts & continued His way with notoriety.
Religious leaders wanted to maintain their standing unarguable,
Who was this man who attacked time-honored law unchangeable?
His miracles considered contrived to make Himself more profitable,
If Christ walked among Jewish leaders today, He would still be unacceptable.
