Jeremiah 10:8
“The wisest of people who worship idols are stupid and foolish. The things they worship are made of wood!” (New Living Translation)
Idols are anything that deviate our focus from God – the author and finisher of our faith. It could be tangible idols like money, big and beautiful house, classy and expensive car, up-to-date technological gadget, or properties and various expensive assets. It could be intangible idols like popularity, sense of accomplishments, philanthropy works, or anything that gives us a good name.
The bible tells us that when we are obsessed on having and maintaining material assets or obsessed in preserving our good name in public, without acknowledging that it is God who works in us to will and to act according to His good purpose (Philippians 2:13), we are actually robbing God of His glory and honour and taking that glory as our own.
We are created for a purpose. All events that happened, is happening, and will happen in our lives shapes our character so that we would conclude that God is sovereign; God is love; God is faithful; God is merciful; God is gracious; God is wonderful; God is the provider; God is our Alpha and Omega; God is our everything. Without Him, we cannot do anything good.
When we realize that the only Person we should worship is God (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit), we are not stupid and foolish even if the world thinks otherwise.

AMEN! Makes me think of my precious God-daughter. She was born with a half-developed brain. Most people see her as pretty foolish. But there's a Godly wisdom about her that a few of us are blessed enough to recognize. She simply loves the Lord and that's quite obvious to anyone. Everyone should be so wise.
