The wilderness and the dry land
shall be glad,
the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus it shall blossom
abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
[Isaiah 35:1]
*******************************
"I just awoke from another bad
dream, Lord."

"Yes, My child.
I know."

"It was so insipid; I am still
recovering from it!"

"It will take a long time, My beloved."

"I am no one's beloved, my Lord."

"That is not true, child.
You are Mine."

"It was such an ugly, hideous dream.
Why do You give these to me?
Why, Lord?"

"Do you believe, in your heart,
that I give these to you, child?"

[silence]
"Well, I guess not, Lord."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Then, can't You just stop
them.....or make them go away,
Lord?"

[SILENCE.]

"Why not, Lord? Why?
Does it give You pleasure
to enundate me with these
horrible dreams? Why?
Why are You being so cruel?"

"I love you deeply, My little one."

[sigh]
"Yeah. It's alright, Lord.
It's not your fault; don't
worry about it. It's okay.
[sigh]
At first, in my dream,
I was very happy to have
gotten the long, white box.
When I went to open it, however,
it became a nightmare:
the box was filled with long stem red
roses - but, they were dying:
browning at the tips, and withering
as if they had lain in the sun too
long. And, the card wasn't
decipherable! Frustrated, and very
anxious, I tried desperately to
reach the person who sent them,
but couldn't!"

[SILENCE.]

"I guess I'm like one of those
long stem roses, Lord: browning
at the tips, and dropping petals
one by one. Like a rose without
water, I will surely die."

"Look away from your dreams,
child."

"How can I do that, Lord? They
poison my nights, and haunt my
days!"

"I, also, have given you a Rose, My child.
It is the only Antidote for the venom
of the poison in your life. Do you
see It, child?"

[silence]
"I guess, Lord.
I think so, Lord.
I....I hope so, Lord.
Is it........
.....Is it You, Lord Jesus?"
********************************
I am a Rose of Sharon,
a Lily of the Valleys.
[Song of Solomon 2:1]
