With open arms on a rugged cross,
You gave your life for me.
The pain and suffering you endured,
All to set me free.
As a child learning to ride a bike,
You guide me with love and care.
With open arms, then you let me go,
Letting me know you’re always right there.
You’re there to pick me up when I fall,
There to wipe away my tears,
Listening through my ramblings and thoughts,
And knowing all my fears.
And as a child cries out,
For a parent’s loving embrace,
With these open arms I cry to you,
“Father, please fill me with your grace”.
Let me feel your comforting love,
As my hands I raise in praise to you.
Let that love, fill my heart,
And show in all I do.
Let me greet others with open arms,
As you have asked of me,
When you asked that I treat others,
As I would want them to treat me.
Just like a child with a broken toy,
One that is in need of repair,
I bring to you my heartaches,
Giving them all to you in prayer.
Lord, I thank you for your blessings,
And each lesson you want me to learn.
I try to bring you praise and glory,
Not just troubles and concerns.
Your sacrifice, is impossible to repay.
Lord, I’m amazed you could still love me,
But I know when you died as you did on that cross,
With open arms you set me free!
