Bless This Night

Bless This Night

God, bless this night, the day’s been long,
My body feels the weight
Of trials sore and grief galore,
I crave the rest from day.

My soul has cried today for those
Who said goodbye down here;
For those who feel they’ll never see
Another day of cheer.

Sometimes the grief another has
Is empathized in heart.
Can we bear up and service them
To help a healing start?

When pain and illness faces us -
And prayers seem earthly bound;
When everyone around seems just
To wear indifferent frowns;

Oh, Lord, my healing Savior,
Come deep into my heart;
Be here today and stay for aye,
With this night, make the start.

Bless this night with precious dreams,
Of good things yet to come,
Bless the ones I’ve cared about,
Upon the journey home.
