My Mother’s Over There
I fancy I can see her now,
On Heaven’s golden shore,
And I can see she’s happy for
Her troubles here are ‘ore.
In vision I imagine
Sweet lips pressed to her cheeks...
All those for whom the longing
Had been so strong for weeks.
Those old and dear and treasured -
Those footsteps once so dear -
Again she listens, hears them,
As each one draws so near.
Eyes that fain could see us see
And recognize with ease
The husband, sons and daughter,
That so long were memories.
The Mother’s Heart within her
Must surely burst with joy
As all around her gather and
Familiar songs employ!
Then down the streets of Glory!
By the shining crystal sea...
Till Jesus walks beside her
As He walked in Galilee...
Ever loving...ever faithful...
Oh! The Lamb that loved her so,
Who paid the price for her redemption,
Can now see and tell her so!
Oh! I want to get to Heaven!
I want to see her there;
So I’ll toil and strive the harder - for...
