We a live in a troubled world. In the world we will have trials, challenges, difficulties, opposition and the likes. We are often required to pass through troubled times in this life. Some of these troubles if not properly handled become burdens to the soul. It preys on the soul down such that weaker beings even flirt with suicide or commit it. Life is filled with highs/lows, mountaintop/valley experiences. Times of mourning and times of dancing. Stuff comes that make us happy and at other times stuff come that make us sad. Things happen that excite us and some times things happen that make us feel depressed. It really is easy to handle the highs or the mountaintop and those times in our lives that things are happening for us the way we want it to. However it is often more difficult to handle the valley moments or those times in our life when it looks like everything is against us and nothing seems to be working despite our very best efforts. Everyone big/small, male/female, rich/poor experiences these moments. Everything happens to everybody and at one time or the other things that will depress or cause depression will confront us. So knowing how to handle depression is very vital to your continued success in life. More than anything else depression is a spiritual force that primarily affects the spirit (heart) of man. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions in order to be effective. That does not imply that we should not also seek medical help. However we must understand that medical help alone cannot solve spiritual problems. Here is a simple yet inexpensive and powerful remedy for depression.
*Read and meditate (ponder, think upon, imagine) on the promises of God: if your thoughts are continually focused on the problems you will feel depressed but if they are on the promises of God you will be excited.
*Trust(rely on, lean on, have confidence in)God: You have got to believe that God is bigger than any problem you are faced with and that the size of your problem doesn’t make God smaller.
*Talk to God in prayer: Give the problem(s) to God in prayer. Pray to the one who is bigger than you and mightier than the problems in your life. The songwriter wrote “if He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulder, I know my brother He will carry you”. God is bigger than you can ever imagine. You may just be a prayer away from getting help from heaven. Add much thanksgiving to your prayer and see what happens.
*Encourage yourself by talking to yourself: You cannot achieve much if you are discouraged. So you need to encourage yourself by speaking positive things to your spirit. That is one of the reasons God gave you a mouth in the first place. Speak positive faith filled words that will lift your spirits and give you that extra push or courage you need to keep keeping on till you triumph.
*Remember Gods past victories on your behalf: has He helped someone before when they were in trouble. Or even better has God helped you before. If he did it before he can do it again.
*Praise Him no matter the situation: Nothing cures depression like praise. The demons that bring depression do not find safe haven in an atmosphere filled with praise to God. They thrive better under an atmosphere of complaining, bitterness and worry. Where God finds praise he not only sets up camp but He also sets an ambush for those problems opposing you and sets you free. Cast out depression today with this simple inexpensive cure and you will soon be prescribing it to others who are depressed.
