Pr 27:8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his home.
The Word of God is God's manual for humans. It guides humans on how to live a good life. The commandments given by God in His word are meant for our protection not for our destruction. God desires for us to have the best. The world is in a mess today because our ancestors Adam and Eve violated God’s instruction. And even till tomorrow their descendants will still be disobeying God’s commands to their often obvious and some times not so obvious detriment. We are like children who should obey our parents because they (parents) are wiser, older and more experienced so should know better yet we disobey them. A parent tells his child whom he loves and wants the best for that “thou shalt not touch fire”. But out of curiosity or possibly mischief the child goes ahead to touch that which he has been told not to touch. Off course the child pays dearly for not obeying the parent.
In the world we live in today adultery has become the norm of the day. It is no longer something that religion frowns at. It is “normal” for a man or woman to indulge in sex outside marriage. Divorce rates are at an all time high in the world. Multiple sex partners are the vogue today. All of this is in outright violation of the commandments of God and the manual in Proverbs 27: 8 is clear. A man or woman that enters an adulterous relationship has strayed from home. Maybe you do not know what happens to strays let me enlighten you. Think of a flock of sheep with their shepherd watching over them. As long as the sheep is part of the flock the shepherd lovingly leads the flock, provide pasture and protect them from wild animals. But if a sheep were to move away from the flock and is on its own it has simply strayed out of the reach of the shepherd’s loving care. And often before it has had time to return or for the shepherd to search for it the wolf would have struck.
God (the shepherd) designed the home and marital relationship to be between man and wife within the security of the home. God planned for marriage between a man and his wife to be a Garden of Eden experience. Within that garden man and his wife were to enjoy one another under God and keep his commandments. Within the boundaries set by God (the shepherd), he provides protection, provision and direction for man and his wife. Sexual union is something God has reserved to be enjoyed between a man and his wife alone. And so when a man or woman partakes in sexual union with another outside his/her marriage he/she has strayed from home and gives room to the devil (the wolf of this world) to strike and wreck havoc. Think of the consequences of adultery such as emotional sickness, broken or dysfunctional homes, disease and disobedient and rebellious children. Adulterous affairs may appear fun, taste sweet and even feel good but the end will always be bitter. Remember your parents Adam and Eve. The apple looked good, felt good and tasted good but in the end the damage done was irreparable. Hey husband. Hello wife. Don’t destroy your home and cause damage to yourself with that adulterous relationship. You can still make that marriage work if you do not give up. The wolf (devil) is only out to steal to kill and to destroy. Anyone that is in an adulterous relationship has strayed from home. If you have strayed from home even now you can return before it is too late.
