On a cold Saturday morning I met an aquatance I know by the name of Bob. We talked about how cold it would be the following Saturday.
The following Friday I got a call that shocked me. The other person on the line told me Bob was dead. It was shocking because the last Saturday I talked to him.
When I was in 5th grade me and my mom drove my grandmother Alice to her home in Mayer Minnesota. She would stay with us sometimes. As we were leaving my grandmother was crying. I wonder if she new what was about to happen to her. Apparently that same day or the next day she mowed her lawn. She started to mow which she was not suppose to do because she had a hear attack a few years earlier. Then she started not to feel good, she went to bed and the next day the neighbors found her dead.
Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 1 Corinthians 15:55
Life can change in an instance one second we here full of life the next second were gone. The Lord said to Moses, "Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, where I will commission him." Deuteronomy 31:14 God told Moses when he was going to die, but we will not be so lucky. When I talked to Bob that Saturday morning I never thought that would be the last time that I would see them. Likewise Alice I never thought that would be the last time I would see her. The question is are you ready for that appointment. Alice and Bob did not know that there appointed time for death on there days. Again are you ready. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mark 13:32 I know that I will be taking this verse out of context. The verse is speaking about the time that Jesus will come. No one knows the day or the hour. Likewise no one will know the day or the hour of are death. Your not going to get advance notice the question is are you ready?
In life chances are we will be late for at least one appointment. One day I forgot about a doctor’s appointment. Thankfully it was in a neighboring suburb of Richfield, Minnesota. I got on 35W and then the crosstown and got off on France Ave in about 10 minutes. I almost missed my appointment that day but, death is an appointment where we will not be late or we will miss.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life John 3:16. If you repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your heart you can have that assurance of salvation. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8. You can have the free gift of salvation today all you need to is ask.
