Growing Up in Christ,
A Study in Maturity

Maturity is not all about how old you are. You can be sixty years or older and still be immature in some ways. Maturity deals with how well you develop, how well you grow, progress, and advance. Maturity can be how you operate, function, work, how well you manage, how you choose to continue on or how you cope with things and situations, do you handle them as an adult or as a spoiled and unlearned child. Are you one who throws fits or tantrums when things donít always go your way?

As you grow in maturity, you are choosing to move forward. The Bible says that a tree is known by its fruit. Maturity shows up in a person in the things they do, in how one acts, in what he accomplishes. It shows up in how you carry out tasks and get things done, it shows up in how well you succeed {and this is not necessarily speaking of money or the things you possess, but in how well you fare as a person}. Are you someone that people and the LORD can trust?

We donít always know our own selves too well so there fore the LORD has told us not to put our trust in man, we mean well, but often we fall short.
Other signs to watch in yourself when you are checking for that maturity level are how well are you able to obey, and how well do you abide by certain rules and laws that govern us in the world and in the church, and how well are you able to submit to authority in the world and in the church.

I included the world because we are in the world, but not of the world, this is not our home, we are sojourners here until He comes for us. We abide by the laws of man as long as they donít override the laws of God causing us to sin. For we that are believers and the children of the Most High, we follow after the Spirit, we choose to please God and serve him and not man.

II Corin. 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Romans 12:
18. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
In this Church, GOD has raised up some mighty GOD fearing people full of the HOLY GHOST to teach us and instruct us in the way we should go. If we actually take what is given us and apply/put it to use, to our lives, and be doers of the word and not hearers only, to be a doer of something takes action, you are going to have to act and do something to get the results you want, and when we do, we will see a tremendous change, you will see your self growing up and maturing in the LORD gaining great strength as that tree planted by the rivers of waters, which is the LORD, becoming more and more like him, that when people would see us, they would see him, we would express HIS IMAGE, thereby glorifying HIM.

Itís not easy to take the blame when you know you are right or when you have done nothing wrong, Itís not always easy to hold your peace when people are coming against you, itís not always easy to turn the other cheek, itís not always easy to forgive those who have hurt you, but when you do these things for Christí sake, out of obedience to HIM you will find yourself growing and strengthening in him and his divine power to become the SONS and DAUGHTERS of the MOST HIGH.
Donít be afraid to do the hard things, the LORD himself said we are more than a conqueror; he has equipped us with all we need to stand.

II Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.

When you are being mistreated on your job, in your home by a loved one, or at school, stand strong, knowing who is backing you and whoís you are and be as your Father In Heaven says you should be, kind, forgiving, loving, longsuffering, temperate, suffering yourselves to be defrauded. Obey his voice and see how he will fortify you making you stronger. Take the word, eat it, plant it in your heart water it by doing what it says and you will see good fruit coming fourth out of you.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.)

Psalms 92:12
12. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Psalms 92:13
13. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Hosea 14:7
7. They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

Malachi 4:2
2. But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

Ephesians 4:13-15
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

1 Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
