Joy, I shouted, but it did not come,
Joy, I whispered, but it did not hear,
Joy, I said, but it can't be found.
O where joy did I last put you,
O where joy did I hide you,
O when joy will I find you,
O Lord, please give me joy.
As gentle as a breeze,
The Lord then said to me.
Your joy had left,
when you pursued your career,
Your joy did leave,
when you stopped serving your husband,
Your joy is gone,
because you stopped caring for your children,
Your joy is waiting, when you come back home.
With tears in my eyes, I began to weep,
I wondered how this feminist view,
had gotten a hold of me.
O Lord, I cried, make a way to escape,
and I will return to my home,
Where Joy does await!
