On Being a Branch
Lord, I long to be a branch
Grafted to Your mighty vine,
Unconcerned with fruit or leaves,
Happy there to just be Thine.
Gracious Lord, I find my rest
Nourished through your fruitful stem.
May I be a faithful guest
My daily food the Great Amen.
Let Your fruit that bends my branch
Overflow to great and least,
That those who eat this yield there find
A foretaste of Your Heavenly Feast.
