I pray, I fast, I do all I know to do.
Yet it seems my prayers to God just aren’t getting through.
I read and study, I know God’s Word well.
Yet my storms rage on, I just can’t seem to prevail.
All around me I see others being healed and set free.
And with an earnest heart I pray to God, Lord what about me?
I’ve faithfully served in the church, and I’ve diligently sewn my seeds.
But the blessings pass me by, Lord what about me?
I try to obey your commands, Your heart I want to please.
But my situation stays the same, Lord what about me?
I trust in You with all my heart, and in Your Word I do believe.
But it seems that despite all I do, You have forgotten me....
...............................................................
I’ve not forgotten the things you do, I know your deeds quite well.
But when I’ve put your heart to the test, you always seemed to fail.
But Lord! No wait my child, you’ve already plead your case.
Let’s take a deeper look inside, reality, it’s time you face.
You give only what you want to give, never more and sometimes less
I gave my life so you could live, why can’t you give me your best?
You claim to be rooted and grounded; you say you trust in my Word.
Yet when a storm comes your way, you’re fearful and you’re worried.
Yes, you ask me for guidance, you say Lord order my steps.
But you never really let me lead, you‘re always trying to help.
I ask that you love one another, and forgive them as I forgave you.
But you hold bitterness in your heart, for the wrongs done against you.
You said to me “Thy will be done” when I revealed my plans for you.
But your own agenda you have set, you do what you want to do.
See child of mine, whom I love so dear, I have not forgotten about you.
Just remember it is your heart that matters most, not the deeds you do.
...............................................................
Lord, now I see why my blessings have been stalled.
My hands were busy doing “God’s Work”, but my heart never answered Your call.
And now I ask that very same question, but a different answer I seek.
Show me myself, tell me please, Lord, What about me?
