Why do we wear a poppy
Only one time of year?
To show them that we really care
And that we'd like to share.
Share their grief, their sorrow
And all the pain they bear
To share the love we have for them
And thank them for their care.
You see, they fought in a war,
A war of blood and shame
They used real guns, real bullets
It really was no game.
So when you wear your poppy
Please remember this,
When the guns were fired
The bullets seldom missed.
God bless all allied troops then and now.
