I hate to sound braggadocios, but I really must boast of what God is doing in our midst. For the 5 plus years I have been attending Fairbanks Christian Center, I have witnessed the Men's Group (Victorious Men Of God) go through various stages. While witnessing the Women's Group (Virtuous Women Of God) soar full steam ahead, it seems that we, as men, lacked motivation, cohesion, and unity.
Before I go any further, let it be known that I am in no way knocking my brothers or airing any dirty laundry. Please read further.
It's been stated (by Dr. Myles Munroe) that the family is the foundation of society and the man is the foundation for the family. Knowing this, what other tactic would be more effective in attempting to derail the family than to distract the foundation of it?
For generations, women have been the backbone of the Church while it was deemed un-manly for a man to go to Church or admit that he needed God. For a man to do so would undoubtedly label him as weak and feeble. Even today, this attitude has not been eradicated.
The self proclaimed 'world wide leader in sports' advertises a commercial stating that 'Sundays are for bowling". No longer does the NFL have a monopoly on the attention of the male gender. I remember before I accepted Christ how my wife would ready herself and our son (only one child at the time) for Church while I would prepare to crack open a forty ounce the moment she put the car in reverse.
The time for men to rise up and take their place in the Kingdom of God is long over due. Understand that I am not 'male bashing'. That is a deplorable act that has crept from daytime talk shows into the Church.
This is not a story to illustrate the ineptitude of men in the things if God; quite the contrary actually. This is a testimony to how God will move in families, homes, and Churches when the men of God make up in their mind to be the kings and high priests that God has ordained us to be.
In no way is this meant to belittle women either. As I stated before, the women have carried the Church for centuries. The Church has operated with a withered hand (Pastors, Evangelists, and Teachers only) for centuries and we now see God ushering in and elevating the Apostle and Prophets so the Church can reach its full destiny in Christ. Now, we see the full hand of God (the 5 fold ministry) at work in His Bride for the purpose established in Ephesians 4:11-12. Just as only a portion of the 5 fold offices is less effective than when all five offices operate effectively, so the Church (and family) is less effective if either the men or women are out of place.
Which brings me back home. God is doing an awesome work at Fairbanks Christian Center in uniting the men in the unity of the Spirit. Whether it is fellowship at the Church, taking Pastor Dad out for his birthday, going to the movies together, or uniting to sing praises to God in the Anointed Voices Of Thunder men's choir; just being part of what God is doing and witnessing these mighty men of valor endeavor to sow seeds of righteousness and hope for themselves and their families is an awesome thing to behold.
We often hear news of the fact that God is ushering in His Apostles and Prophets, and rightfully so. He is also doing a work in the hearts and lives of His men folk. This is a work that may not be seen by the natural mind, but can certainly be discerned by those that have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.
