Nune opened his eyes and rubbed them as he quickly looked around his new surroundings. He looked at the clock on the wall and knew he had slept longer then he had originally intended to. He got up, walked over and opened the desk drawer and pulled out the hotel takeout menu. " Yes, this is 204, can I order a club sandwich on wheat and a slice of cherry cheesecake for room delivery". " Thank you" he said as he hung up the phone, turned on the desk light and opened the phone book. He started to thumb through it and Nune stopped to think quickly the last name he was thinking of. He remembered and then turned the pages to the D section.
Working at a dark wooden roll top desk in the living room, Ryan worked on the monthly bills. He could hear the January snow whistling against the blue two story house. He knew his daughter was upstairs doing her homework and his wife was cleaning the kitchen.
Karen was wiping off the counter with a dishrag when the phone rang. She wiped her hands off with a hand towel. " Hello" she said as she put the towel down. " Hello" she said again as she tried to hear anything. She heard nothing on the other line as she hung up the phone. She shrugged her shoulders as she went back to finishing up the kitchen.
Nune hung up the phone as somebody knocked on the door. His dinner came and he sat down at the low table near the couch and ate in silence his club sandwich and his cherry cheesecake.
