What is the most important thing in your life, what is the most important thing you possess. Is it your health, or your money or maybe your car or house?
Actually the most important thing in the life of a believer should be his bible.
Why is that, what is so important about the bible, surely it is just a book, sure it tells us about God but is it really that important?
It should be ther most important thing in the life of a believer.
Mark 4:13-15 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
If you understand this principle you will understand all principles. This is the master key to understanding the Christian life. Who is the sower? Notice what he is sowing and where he is sowing it.
The devil commeth immediately. God is sowing the word and the devil is stealing it. This word must be important. The devil is not interested in church programmes he is not interested in good choirs or good drama groups (all these are excellent but the devil doesnít try to stop them) he is only interested in the word.
Mark 4:16-17 when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sakeÖ
Mark 4:18-19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the wordÖ
Mark 4:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
If you donít let go of the word it will produce 30, 60 or 100 fold.
2 Cor 4:3-4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The devil is hiding the word from the unbelievers and is trying to steal the word from believers. Why is that, what is so important about the word?
1 Pet 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. We are born again or saved by the word, no word, no salvation.
1 Pet 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. No word, no growth.
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. No word, no faith.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. The gospel of Christ is the word of God. No word, no salvation, no word, no power.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. In the word the righteousness of God is revealed, no word no revelation of God, no word no life of faith.
2 Cor 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. Faith comes from the word, no faith we must walk by sight and we lose the ability to see beyond our circumstances.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. No word no truth, no word no sanctification.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: What is he the spirit of? No word nothing to guide you with.
And he will shew you things to come. No word no revelation of things to come.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. How do you know true disciples, they continue in the word.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. What is truth? And the word that you know will set you free.
Ps 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. No word no healing.
Prov 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Godís word is life to us and health to all our flesh.
Now you may be thinking that you can also get healed by the laying on of hands, is that right?
Mark 16:17-20 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.
The signs followed the word, no word no signs, the signs were a confirmation of the word.
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. If we live in Christ and his word lives in us then we can ask and it will be done, no word nothing to ask knowing it is yours.
If we live in Christ, not a casual visit but setting up home, if his word lives in us again not a casual visit but setting up home. Then we will ask and know that it is ours.
Too often we hear prayers ďo Lord if it be thy willĒ if this is your prayer then you donít know the will of God and you havenít been in the word because Godís word is his will.
So how important is the word, it is vital, we are involved in a battle, it is a battle for the word, God sows the word and the devil is out to steal it, whose side are you on, are you holding fast the word of life or are you allowing the devil to steal from you by not abiding (living) in the word.
