The Toll

Waking up each day bruises my soul,
From channel to channel, there's death and destruction,
Then station to station, rape and abduction,
Each one ripping my heart another empty hole,
Listen to one version, then someone else's,
Confusion coming from what they tell us,
More to come with the promise from a scroll,
My life seaming meaningless in a nothingness existence,
Trying to hang on with very little persistence,
But the promise of justice being pored from a bowl,
I keep yearning for the least bit of truth,
To speak to others through every last tooth,
His very life having paid the toll.
