During your life time you will directly or indirectly influence the lives of at least 10,000 people. Possibly more depending how sociable you are or what your occupation is.
We need to look at 3 principles that affect us which are:

1. What we hear – “His sheep follow him because they know his voice”. Who do you listen to today? What language surrounds your existence – could it be swear words, negativity, critisism? Its common sense really but what we need to hear should be in line with the word of God.

2. What we see – The eye is one of the most powerful senses that makes up the human body, the eye can be tempted by many distractions around us, it is good to broaden our horizons but the power of influence is where we draw our boundaries lines. Do you eyes ever read words from the bible at all or is it porn, history books or what?

3. Who speaks to us – Ever heard the saying “Bad Company corrupts good character” well the bible puts it this way “I have heard what this people said to you, everything they said was good”. In the awesome times and the dull times it is wise to see who your friends really are, what they take you for and what advice they give you . What do they personally stand for and will they bring out your true potential in you both spiritually and personally? Gently loosing people is wise.

Timothy says “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles the word of truth”. As a christian living in Australia I strictly implemented these principles in my life and now they are effective.

As believers of Jesus Christ it is our duty to stand up for what is biblically right and it is our right to, if we are too chicken to then we are influenced by the strangest of people that are in our society. He is the best influence and we all need him more and more daily.
