Every human being is born with a vision and purpose to be accomplished but it is very unfortunate that some people do not accomplish their purpose on earth before they die. No wonder a writer says that cemetery is the richest place in the world, for in it are buried untapped resources.
The Biblical promise land is describes as a land flowing with milk and honey. In our world today promise land is any place or situation in which one expects to find happiness and security. So what is your promise land or are you just floating? You need to live a life and not just manage to live. What are your dream and your vision. If you donít have a dream you will not have any dream to come true, so what are you up to.
Our existence in this planet is transient and so we need to have some accomplishments to account for at the end of the day. Some reasons have been attributed to why some of us are not yet enjoying our promise land.
Some do not know there is a promise land and so they are comfortable with where they are. Though the Israelites knew very well that they are going to the promise land at certain point, they relaxed, may be thinking that, it was the promise land. God had to tell them to move on, that place is not the real place for them. So when we experience a little comfort in life, we tend to think we have arrived so we should relax and enjoy ourselves.
Some are not in the promise land because they are not qualified yet to be there. Just like the Israelites, if they were taken to the promise land just like that, they may not appreciate it. So God had to take them through the wilderness and through deserts. This is for better appreciation of Godís might. The suffering and pains we pass through in the process of achieving some level of comfort in this life is to make us appreciate Godís goodness in our life and to know that it is not easy and when we achieve that we will value it.
In crossing over to our promise land, there may be hindrances which we must overcome if we are to enter and occupy. For the Israelites, there were the Amorites, the Jebusites, the Perizites etc standing as obstacles for them. This shows that to get to the promise land is not easy. One really need to be prepared physically and spiritually for nothing good comes easy.
One need to be courageous and determined to get to the promise land. When you get to the wall of Jericho, you should not be scared because of the height and thickness of the wall because there with you is the Mighty in Battle. Only do not be dismayed you will see victory come to you. Be attentive to take instruction from God.
