So much suffering
just to be something
(I know not what)
that I was meant to be--
Shedding the past like
the dry, wounded skin
of many crushed dreams.
What comes next?
What will I find
when my cacoon,
now waxed dark and dim,
turns glassy clear?
Perhaps I'll find
that pain, unknown to me,
has led me to
a day of ressurection--
A day when I too
can fly away,
on rainbow wings.
