Unforgiveness is a monster
It wears the soul faster than cancer;
Like a sword that shows no pity,
It pears the hearts of foolish men
In whom it finds a resting place
Unforgiveness is a thick darkness
It drives God far and shuts up His grace
But opens wide doors to the evil one
To hatch and breed his vipers
Whose stings kill now and eternally
When hurt by friends and folks
Then comes our way the chance
To pardon like our father does
Who is rich in mercy towards all
In whose image we are made
He didn’t say we won’t be hurt
He never said offence wouldn’t come
But He said we can be like Him
Though we dwell in this mortal frame
When others we pardon just as He does
How could we have paid the price
If God were to charge us for our faults?
But He chose to forgive us
That we may do same for others
And never hold them in our hearts
He who does not forgive is a slave
Held captive by the wicked one
He has no part in God’s grace
Till he has learnt to let go
Or wail and mourn eternally
Forgive today not the next
Forgive before the sun sets
He who forgives is God’s true son
Through him the father’s image is seen
God’s mercy shall ever be his
This was awesome. the word "offense" is spelled this way, with an S, just thought I'd tell ya :) But this poem speaks so much truth, we all have unforgiveness in our lives that we need to deal with, so God can complete His good work in us, and so there is no "offensive way in us." God bless.
I've somberly forgoten your
name but havn't unheeded your
poem about forgiveness.Truly it has touched my heart. Considering all life's hurts
buried in my heart; i need to
let go and let God.What I also like about this poem is its simplicic beauty that carries a simple-but profound
truth almost forgotten by the
world.It takes the guess work
out of Christianity and WOULD
the world be a better place if people would take heed to
that eternal truth. Keep on sowing those devine seeds-Arnost
