This song is written out of my hearts conviction to bring unity into the body of Christ. To stop playing the game of a Pharisee and fooling myself that I am being obedient. For on the Road to Jericho we saw how they behaved. And I am ashamed to say, I at times, share this same common ground.
On Jericho’s Road
Words and Music by J. Morin
(Verse 1)
I’ve got no apologies,
I’m somewhat radical I know
I’ve got lots of philosophies
And rhetoric to bestow
But I must guard my heart
I must watch my words
I must not be so hard
On those who haven’t heard
(Chorus)
‘Cause if I don’t have love
What good will it be
I’ll be nothing but noise
A work of clanging symphony
And will it even matter?
All this truth that I know
If I keep missing opportunities
On Jericho’s Road…On Jericho’s Road
(Verse 2)
I could stand upon my soap box
And demean and degrade
But what profits a man
To behave in this way?
So I’ll stick to what is right
The things I know that are pure
And speak the truth of my convictions
Without a Pharisee’s implications
(Chorus)
Tag:
I’ve got to be black and white
Clear and articulated
No substandard delivery
Choosing each word deliberate
(Last Chorus)
But if I don’t have love
What good will it be
I’ll be nothing but noise
A work of clanging symphony
And will it even matter?
All this truth that I know
If I keep missing opportunities
On Jericho’s Road…On Jericho’s Road
:::sigh::: Seems like every time I find myself disappointed by those who are more apt to speak the Word outside of love, I wind up doing a heart check and find myself crawling back to the cross. But I'm a firm believer that the more we desire to know Love, the more our hearts are filled with it. Yes indeed, what good are all knowledge and great works without love? May we be filled to overflow with the love of God for both Him AND our neighbors. Bless you for sharing this extraordinary piece. It truly touched my heart.
