The lyrics of the song 'The Hokey Pokey' are as follows:
You put your right foot in
You put your right foot out
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about.
You do the Hokey-Pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about!
Unfortunately for some, that's not what it's all about when it comes to working out our faith with fear and trembling.
For some, we have taken the safe route. Salvation insurance, but still carrying the Happy Hour flag.
We have put our right foot on the road to win the race. But then we take our right foot back out. We put our right foot back on the road. Enjoy a victory through Christ, shake it all about. But then, we turn ourselves back around, back into the world.
This is to the joy of the world, when they witness God's children doing the Hokey Pokey. One moment we are fired to know God more, the next moment we are chasing fantasies and lusts. This is not winning a race. When you run a marathon, you don't stop every other mile to have a smoke break. If you do, you will lose. Then why are we doing it in this race. Is this race not important enough to win? Are we still even in the race? What is it all about?
