I値l be the straw, lining the bed
In the manger ~ where You first laid Your head.
I値l be the light in old Simeon痴 eyes,
When he recognized God痴 redeeming prize.
I値l be the water, turned into wine
At the wedding, where all the well wishers dined.
I値l be the pillow that cushioned your head
In the boat, that night "Peace, be still" was said.
I値l be the mud that you spread on blind eyes
And, when washed away, brought a happy surprise!
I値l be the towel wrapped in Your hand
As you tried, so hard, to make men understand.
I値l be a palm branch spread in Your way
As "hosannas" rang out, in Jerusalem, that day.
I値l be a rock crying out, "He痴 the King!"
Lord, I would be, for You, any old thing ...
That You might find useful to bring men to God.
But, I would never want to be planted in sod,
Holding the body of Jesus up high.
And yet, it was there He paid, as He died.
He paid it all, from start to the finish.
He paid for the worst, included me in it.
I値l not get to Heaven by aught I have done,
But only the Blood of the Crucified One!
My puny works are my feeble attempt
To show my love for His magnificent gift.
It will take all eternity to even begin
To show the love I have for Him!
