Poetry
I can still feel the warmth
from the wood burning heater
as though it was just yesterday
we were all gathered round
the big round oak table
the dominoes ready to play
Many a night we sat round the table
playing by the coal-oil lamp light
or Mama would read us
a verse from the Bible
teaching us wrong wasn't right
Now the oak table sets in my parlor
no one is gathered around
the dominoes are neatly
stacked in the cupboard
there are no players to be found
The television blares the computer hums
no one talks to each other
everyone moves in a world of their own
Mom and Dad...sister and brother
