I was writing ponderings of several events that had been going on, and this is what I came up with in response.
Perhaps the next time you find yourself in an unpleasant situation, take some time to ponder reflectively as to the core reason you are reacting negatively to the experience. There could be the chance the source of suffering that is being experienced stems from your reaction to the situation. If this is truly the case, it seems we would be freer to choose the ways in which we interact and respond to the various scenarios in our lives. Therefore, we could possibly choose to respond to various external circumstances from the inside out rather than absorbing the outside in. Hence, we may find ourselves living in peaceful co-existence with God and others.
So, go ahead, sit back in your chair. Sit yourself way back, laying your head on the back of the chair. Imagine now, a place in which is safe and secure created just for you. Picture your mind as a blank canvas that you can paint a serene and tranquil place just the way you need it to be. At this moment you are given the opportunity to allow your weakness along with your deepest longing to be transformed into your greatest strength; thus, meeting your deficits with the Father of Love and Life.
Now, breathe. Really breathe deep in and out. You know the type of breathing that a woman in labor has to breathe in order to deal with the pain of labor. This is in fact, the truth of what you are beginning to experience. This is your chance to be really born a new. Not just the over used terminology “born again” but, rather totally newly born for the first time in the amazing sense of God’s love just for you.
You then find you are no longer just laying your head back on the chair. Conversely, you have your head lying on the very breast of God. You will soon begin to hear His heart beating for you. The very heart that desired your existence since the beginning of the world desires you right now. As you sit there, the sound of your heart has taken on the beat of His heart. You are being synchronized with His very being. This is the Holy atmosphere of your very own safe place. Go there often. No, I correct myself. Stay there and visit the rest of your life from it. This is living from your “safe place”. No longer do you need to try to survive or strive each day, you now know what it really means to abide in Him.
He, who dwells in the Secret Place of the most High God, can take refuge in the Almighty. Ps 1:1
