A Spool Of Scarlet Thread

She sat with metal slivers
trying to create
a form of natural beauty
from a soul of fear and hate
Her fingers lost dexterity
but her mind was still intact
as the thread of memories wove
through years of what she lacked
Had not she been forgiven
by the scarlet blood that flows?
her sins of crimson overtones
made white as winter snow?
Embellishments of bitterness
now beads of ebony
choked life from soul and spirit
and her eyes that once could see
She hung her head in broken shame
and prayed, “Help me to forgive,
to let go all wrongs done me,
Lord, I want to live”
Her eyes glanced over
the spools of scarlet thread
freedom’s costly purchase
from a Spotless Lamb who bled
Her heart had never felt so free
all offenses put to death
with spool of scarlet thread in hand
she breathed her final breath…
A light appeared so radiant
when she entered through the door
and peered into the throne room
a wonder to explore
Her steps seemed like a thousand
as she slowly came inside
glory filled her very heart
that once stored fear and pride
Kneeling before the Master
she recognized those hands
that wove her in her mother’s womb
now finished with His plans
She saw a smile come on His face
when the Prince said, “No not yet”
and held up the spool of scarlet thread
“Go back and don’t forget”
His words coursed through her very soul
and unraveled self made seams
the Prince of Sacrifice and Love
had stitched new Hope and Dreams
Another light now filled her room
a lamp just by her bed,
tears streamed down her wrinkled cheeks
at what her Savior said
She knew not how she would amend
relationships so torn
but filled her basket with scarlet spools
for others who were worn
Her twisted hands relaxed around
the handles made of straw
as determination now rebirthed
set firmly in her jaw
"He who began a work in me
shall finish it I say
I will rejoice and be glad, the Lord
has made another day"
Her toddling legs had started
new journeys down the road
with a trail of scarlet thread behind
that freed her of her load…

Wow! My wife read this to me from the computer when I got home. Absolutely fantastic. I can't believe you are in the beginners. Thank you for sharing. God bless and keep writing.
What a powerful message, and beautifully written in poetry. I loved the connection between the blood of salvation and the scarlet thread. What you wrote about recognizing His hands made me cry as I can only imagine how that will be! This is a real blessing.
This is beautiful.
Lovely - I love your imagery. Thanks for sharing!
