There are so many promises in the Bible. Someone once told me there were over 7, 000.
Thatís pretty remarkable.
When was the last time you made over 7, 000 promises to a friend or loved one? And,
of course, kept them.
ď...but I donít have...Ē
Yes, you do!
By faith you do.
And if youíre not 100% clear that Godís going to deliver you need to start living in the Word
or ďabideĒ until it becomes clear!
The Bible states that if youíll abide in Him all these other things will be given.
ďIf ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.Ē John 15:7 (King James Version)
Funk & Wagnallís standard dictionary says the word abide means ď...to continue in a
place; stay...Ē ď...to dwell; reside...Ē ď...to remain faithful or unchanging...Ē ďto look for...Ē
So dust off the Bible, find the teaching tapes and get the calendar of events for your church.
Start reading, studying, praising, worshiping, praying, helping, attending and believing. The funny thing is the longer and harder you get into the Word the more you believe in it. So get it in your head. Get it in your heart. Get it all around you.
Now that doesnít mean you can slack off. You have do it with persistence.
You canít read and study and really get into everything the church has to offer then quit or decide it isnít working or something else stupid like that. You canít expect it to happen overnight, either
You have to dig in for the long haul.
Look, Iím a crafter and Iím pretty good at it. Iíve been doing it for years. Iíve read about it. Iíve listened to talks about it. I attended craft shows. I studied it. I talked about it. I even practiced. Everyday.
If Iíd taken a few ďbreaksĒ and not been consistent, I wouldnít be as good at it as I am now.
You arenít going to wake up the very next morning and find a new sports car in the driveway or a million dollars on your porch. It just doesnít happen that way.
You also canít pay attention to all the negative crap in this world. Or listen to all the nay Sayers
(and, trust me , well-meaning friends and family are going be crawling out of the wood work to
lovingly let you know youíre being an idiot---------ignore them).
You should be gaining some knowledge by now of who you are in Christ and getting confident
in Godís power and promises.
But if you donít feel strong enough to be around those folks. Leave...walk away.
And the same goes for world news. You want to surround yourself with only positive things, stay away from the negative ones. Period.
Donít give it a chance to creep into your thoughts until youíre ready.
ď... when will I know...Ē
Youíll know when the time is right.
A good way to remind yourself of all the wonderful things youíre learning is to simply speak it.
It may feel a bit strange at first . Thatís ok. See, the more youíll say things that line up with the Word the more you believe. And the more you believe the more youíll say them and the more youíll say them.... and on and on. Get the idea?
As you abide in Him , Heíll abide in you. Thatís a pretty cool thing.
That means itís not a one-way street. That means Godís doing His part too.
It means Heís right there on the scene.
Heís not leaving you on your own.
Heís ď...to remain faithful and unchanging...Ē ď... to continue in a place; stay...Ē
I donít know about you but I take real comfort knowing our Father Ďs got my back. And Heís
not going anywhere, either.
I especially like the meaning in Funk & Wagnallís that says ď...to look for...Ē ď...to await expectantly...Ē
Thatís a byproduct.
Youíll start believing and you'll know that you know...that you know itís
coming and NO ONE can dissuade you from that!
And, then, it does .
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW

So dust off the Bible Robbie, the name of my web site is www.dustonthebible.com. My desire is to get people to read that Bible lying on the coffee table. You mentioned you are a crafter and studied and worked at it. As a former crafter, I can relate to this. Salvation is free, but God expects us to work to perfect our living for him daily. May God bless you, and thank you for sharing this with us. Thomas
