This story really did take place, and I was a witness to the event. We had special guests, a husband and wife team, at the evening service. They lead the hundred plus choir in song with new songs we had not heard. This went on for quite a while and everyone in the house, about three thousand really got in the spirit of the service that night. But something was different and you could sense it. You knew you were going to different levels of praise. I turned to my friend and asked her about this. She said after considering that she realized this, that it seemed subtle. We were stepping up, and walking, then taking another step up.
Have you ever sensed static electricity in the atmosphere? I kept my antenna up because I didn't want to miss a thing. As the praise got more vigorous, it began. Did I just hear the walls rumbling? I turned to my friend and asked, she said she couldn't tell. Then the rumbling got louder, when the worshippers heard it, they suddenly got quiet.
The music ended, the musicians quit playing, the voices stopped, and everyone looked like a deer in front of a vehicles headlights.
Yeah! The rumbling scared them! I watched the people's faces. People were looking around, faces up to the ceiling, turning to face the side walls, the sound seemed to reverberate all around us. The minister walked up to the microphone quickly and said, "Keep praising God! These walls will hold!" The response from the crowd was a roar so loud I covered my ears. Something let go and God got the praise.
Music and voices hit it with such enthusiasm, I told my friend later, "I am surprised we didn't get raptured up and down a few dozen times!" We cried, we laughed, we sang, we yelled. But I did not lose my voice from all my yelling. This was better than a football game! Tons more fun too!
I saw people who never broke a sweat having an emotional melt down, falling on their knees, and hands raised up. One man came running from I don't know where and ran across the front and down an aisle. I was thinking, man, this is a massive believer's attack! I had never witnessed such an outpouring of the spirit but I was learning. Many were speaking in tongues and dancing in the spirit. The choir was nonstop and seemed in their own world. Their songs were powerful, so much that you could sense the impact make you take a step back.
I wondered what I would see, if I could, using God's eyes? God was busy working on people all around me. I know He was getting to me.
This continued for an hour, an hour! No one wanted to leave. There was a healing line, people laying out, and crying at the altar. People still standing and hands raised oblivious to what was going on around them. Who knows what the Lord had done to the hearts of those there. It made me hunger more for such moments. It was like basking in the glory of the Lord. I witnessed the freedom of expression in praise I have not seen since. This night my drive for the Lord had grown. What else, Lord, would you show me next, on this walk with You?
