Surely the enemy of God is on the rampage for some reason. I know for myself that things are sometimes beyond my comprehension and it is then that I find myself questioning whether or not God has left me or maybe just turned his back for a moment. You can rest assured as children of the Most High God neither of these are true. God has not abandoned you nor turned his back on you even for a brief moment, but has chose to trust you.
That's right God chosen to trust you! You wonder why would God trust me? He trusts that you will continue to do the things that he has called you to do, even when prosperity seems to have ceased and the things that you value seem to have been taken from you be it loved ones, friends, family, possessions and especially health and vitality.
"The Lord said to Satan, " Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Job 1:8
God stands boldly in your corner knowing that you will not curse him as presumed by his enemies. Remember Job? When wrapped in unexplained pain, his children killed all at once and then having lost all of his possessions. As though this were not enough his closest friends ridiculed him and his wife encouraged him to commit suicide. With all of this he prayed earnestly without a word from God. But in the midst of all these things Job made a firm declaration of his position as a believer.
"For as long as life is in me, and the breath of God in my nostrils, my lips certainly will not speak unjustly, nor will my tongue mutter deceit. Far be it from me that I should declare you right; Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me, I will hold fast my righteousness and will not let go. My heart does not reproach any of my days." Job 27:3-6,
In our limited understanding of spiritual things, most often we wrongfully assume that God is challenged by the enemy and has somehow lost his edge. The truth however is that he (God) is not being challenged but is presenting the challenge and with it the solution and everything in between.
When you sense that the Lord is distant from you it is precisely then that he is closest to you. When you are without strength and feel like there is no hope, take your eyes off of your circumstances and listen closely to your heart. As you listen by faith, you will hear a song of praise growing there to comfort you and give you assurance of the hope that is still growing within you. Yes, right there, where Christ Jesus the hope of glory still dwells in power.
Has God asked the question, have you considered my servant and called out your name? Have you experienced pain upon pain to the point of breaking? How then will you respond in your day of trouble? Perhaps Job can be an encouragement to you as one who greatly understands your pain.
" Though he slay me I will trust him. I will maintain mine own ways before him." Job 13:15
As one who knows the rest of the story, he will not leave you and to forsake you would mean to bring reproach upon Him-self. Can you not trust him in the midst of the storm as you have in the calm that generally follows? He is for you and believes in you, it is time now for you to believe in him!
