All throughout history, women have come
As wives, as mothers, as keepers of the home
But there is more that God wants women to do
To be like Jael, for the enemy she slew
To be like Anna, who preached Gods’ Word
Or the woman at the well, through the town she was heard
Not as an adulteress as she used to be
But a promoter of a revival for all to see.
To be like Deborah, for a nation she judged
Or like the mother of Jesus, who did not hold a grudge
To be like Huldah, a prophetess consulted by a king
Or like Minister Best for the good news that she brings
To be like Eldress Butts who prays through the night
Or like the Deaconess Phoebe, who kept Jesus in sight
Junia a prisoner, who loved Jesus so
Priscilla, the good news, she wanted all to know.
To be like Minister Gwen McIver, who holds to Gods’ hand.
To be like Nan Jackson, who trust God when He says stand.
To be like Barbara Edwards, who is willing to praise.
Not just on Sunday, but each and every day
To be like Irma Ziegler for the children she reared
Or to be like Pastor Wyant, for it is God that she fears
To be like Adrienne Rumph, who desires to give God her best.
And we truly praise God for her humbly saying YES
