Looking For My Father

I see the work of Your great hand in mountains and the sea

And wonder how so great a God could love someone like me.

At times I get so homesick just to see my Saviourís face

And how I long to thank You for Your wondrous gift of grace.

I wait for your appearing as I watch the eastern shore

And hope that this might be the day that Iíve been longing for.

I scan the skies and pray that Your dear image I will see;

I listen for that trumpet sound that Youíve come back for me.

Until that day, Iíll do the work Youíve chosen me to do

And ask that as I kneel in prayer, my spirit Youíll renew.

Iím waiting for that Blessed Hope that You have promised me

To take me Home to be Your bride for all eternity.

Can't get rid of this lump in my throat. It has remained long after reading this poem. I, too, am watching the eastern sky, waiting for the trumpet sound, and longing for Him to return for me. Thank you Mariane for such a beautiful, beautiful poem. It has moved me, touched the very depth of my being, my heart and soul...and I still can't get the lump out of my throat! You are truly holding the pen of God in your earthly, human hands.

I think Marilyn really likes this poem. (smile) She sent me a link, so I could share it, too, for which I am grateful. The most touching lines to me: "At times I get so homesick just to see my Saviourís face "And how I long to thank You for Your wondrous gift of grace." Could these be lyrics for a new worship hymn? It would be just beautiful, and so moving, I think.
