You alone Jesus, are the great ~I AM~. You are our great God. When human history began, You revealed Yourself to man. As human history progresses, you increasingly reveal Yourself to the human race. How the angels must have bowed, in adoration when You appeared as Immanuel; God with us. Their greatest joy is to pass before you in Heaven as they veil their faces before Your holiness. Finally, the greatest revelation of God appeared as ~the glory of God was revealed in the Face of Jesus Christ~. How beautiful, how beautiful is Your face! One, who was closest to You, leaned his head upon Your breast as he took final glimpses of Your glorious Face.
As You revealed Yourself throughout history to man, so You reveal Yourself in increasing measure to an individual soul as they journey the Christian life. You have revealed Yourself in increasing measure to me, as I seek Your face throughout my life. How beautiful You are, My God! Oh, ~how great is Thy goodness; how great is Thy beauty~ to me, oh God.
You alone, Jesus are our good Shepherd. You seek us when we wander away from You. You carry us back to the fold and safety as You place us on Your shoulders, the place of strength. How great is Your strength, Oh, God. As You carry the grown sheep on Your shoulders, You carry the lambs in Your bosom, near Your heart, the seat of Your affection. From that place, the little lambs hear Your whispers of love and tenderness; Your gaze of affection meets their young innocent eyes. Our great Shepherd You are also; declared to be when our Father raised You from the dead. Hallelujah, You, our great God, have risen from the dead!
You alone, Jesus are our Refuge to Whom we may flee. You enfold us under Your wings of warmth and security as You still the fear within us. Our shelter, our hiding place You are, a place of safety where no evil can befall us. When You hear our cries, You swoop down to cover and protect us while You whisper words of endearment to us. None can fathom the peace we experience as You quiet our fears with the tenderness as a mother with a small, frightened child. Thank you, O, Jesus for Your tender mercy and kindness, my God. Thank You that you soothe our greatest fears and pain with the shelter of Your presence where no evil dwells.
In the shelter of Your presence,
In the safety of Your arms,
I will make myself a refuge,
From all harm, from all harm.
I will cast my cares upon You
Make Your peace my final home,
In the shelter of Your presence
In the safety of Your arms.
