One thing my Mother gave me was a love for the written word, and although she read only non-fiction books, it was the stories that I preferred.
I read of places I'd never been, about people I did not know, and even when the books went back to the library, I made my own imaginary one grow.
I had books of adventure, set long ago, and ones that looked at times to come, and the characters were like my friends, and when I read, I joined in their fun.
It was a solitary thing, but not really lonely, and books never changed, they'd remain true, the outside world could be full of hurt, I'd retreat back to my books when I was blue.
Much later in life, I met my Savior, who took all the hurt and soothed it away, and placed in me a brand new heart, and gave me new mercies every day.
He also gave me a special book, one that means oh so much more, a book that tells all about my Lord, and how to follow the One I adore.
Jesus didn't leave me alone on that path, He knew the desires of my heart, and delighted to give me when the time was right, someone from whom I would never part.
It was a gift I never thought I would have, the one thing I'd accepted would never come true, but God smiled, and blessed me with such wonder and love, the day we met, I knew I'd always love you!
What joy and happiness are mine every day, when I wake, our gift of love is again brand new; and I can't wait to find a thousand new ways to give you my heart and show how very much I LOVE YOU!!
