Violet’s Stormy Day

The rainbow was not always this way
Long ago on a dark and stormy day
Violet no longer wanted to be part of the rainbow
Because Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green and Indigo
Who Violet thought were all so very cool
Had laughed at Violet and called him a fool

Violet had been very sad about it for days
He talked about the problem with his friends, the Sun’s Rays
He said, “Red Bow made be feel like I don’t belong
Green Bow said the way I bend is all-wrong
Yellow Bow laughed at me, said I was fat
And Orange Bow said I smelled like a rat”

The Sun’s Rays, whose names were Squiggle and Star
Said, “Oh, they just can’t see how wonderful you are
And isn’t it such a shame
Those mean colors play such hurtful games?"

Squiggle Ray told Violet Bow he was very cute
Plus he was fun and smart to boot

Star Ray said “Those bad bows are just too mean
Most times things are not as bad as they seem

But Violet Bow was so sad and so very hurt
“It is just not fair for them to treat me like dirt…
What can I do to teach then a lesson, I wonder
If they are afraid of lightning bolts and thunder
I will hurt them, give them a good scare
That’s what they get because they did not care
I will hurt them with very sharp lightning
Then they will be sorry, they will be so frightened”

“Please don’t say that” said Squiggle Ray
“Surely there is a much better way”

“Such talk makes me sad.” Said his friend little Star
“And all that hurting won’t change who you are”

But Violet no longer seemed to see them or even hear
He was blinded by his anger and one thing was clear
Someone would be hurt by what Violet had in mind
Squiggle ran like the wind to get Olde Father Time.

“Father Time, Father Time, we really need your help!”
Squiggle told him quickly how Violet Bow felt
How he planned to hurt others with sharp lightning bolts
Father Time said “Bring me my fastest colts”
Then he called his friend, Strong Wind, to help them gain speed
Then they rode hard and fast with Squiggle in the lead

Violet Bow heard them coming, horses clip—clopping
But he was so mad, he was not stopping
He had his lightning bolts and thunder in a gym bag
Those colors won’t be so cool when I play lightning tag.
I will get Yellow first
He was the worse
Then I will get that bad Red
But Father time caught him and said,
“Fighting only makes things worse
Let’s try to see things clearly first
Look in my tomorrow mirror and see
What a truly great color you will someday be
Look at the pretty flower that is named after you
It wouldn’t be a Violet if it were blue
Look how you shine in the sunrise
And you are beautiful when you color someone’s eyes
Don’t worry when others say words that are unkind
Just look into tomorrow and see how you shine:”

“But”, said Violet, “Blue and Green are very cool
And they said I was stupid, called me a fool”
"They aren't cool just really very sad
They laugh at others so they won't feel so bad
Give me your lightning and your thunder
There are better ways to make them wonder
Why they never really saw you before
Show them that you are so much more
Than just a color or a size
Show them you are kind, and that you are wise
Keep the Tomorrow Mirror for it will show you truly
If others say you are ugly, it will show your beauty
Others may not see you clearly or they may just lie
Maybe it makes them feel stronger to make you cry
Always be proud you are Violet, not blue
The Rainbow would not be as wonderful if you were not you"

Violet Bow gave Father Time the bag
He wasn’t angry anymore, he was glad
He looked at his special flower and said
How cool to be Violet, I am glad I am not red
Violet knew now he was special and had a special place to go
He hugged his friends goodbye and took his rightful place in the earth’s rainbow.

If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
