There he was... A visitor at our farmhouse. He immediately made an impact on our family. Especially us children. He liked each one of us 4 children. Surprisingly, he had no favorites. We all got the same treatment. Mr. Mumps was like that!
The doctor said Mr. Mumps had gotten us very well. And we couldn't even go to school for 2-3 weeks. That just hurt! No school for 3 weeks---that sounded like a vacation. hehehe. And no Fuller Brush Man. No Electrolux man. No Avon Calling Lady. No rides to the Dairy Queen. Just what kind of trouble did this Mr. Mumps get us into?
Soreness or swelling of the parotid glands on one or both sides. Discomfort may range from vague tenderness to obvious pain when opening the mouth or swallowing
Fever, usually lasting about two to three days
Sore muscles
Loss of appetite
Headache
Earache that is aggravated by chewing
Aversion to light, lethargy, and a stiff neck (which may indicate meningitis)
Mr. Mumps had a very viral effect on us children. Then he was gone. Said he had lots of work to do at other homes. Were they going to get vacations too?
As the mumps entered into our house by one man, Mr. Mumps, "...just as sin entered into the world by one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned---" Rom 5:12.
