ďFor as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.Ē Isaiah 55:10-11
If you asked most of us if we thought we would be where we are today, the majority of us would say no. Even as recent as one year ago, things have occurred in some of our lives that helped change our plans, goals, perceptive and caused us to reevaluate whatís important to us. We didnít see the hardships that we would have to face. We had no idea of the sorrow that would come our way. We were blind to the trials that we would have to overcome, the disappointments and setbacks that weíd encounter. There was no thought of some of the difficult choices that we have had to make. Each of us had future plans and goals that we held on to and believed to be obtainable. Itís funny how life can alter a person in such a short amount of time. Even with the issues that life ďthrowsĒ our way, we can be sure of the promises we have in the Lord.
Can you recall a promise that you received from the Lord, a promise that you know beyond any doubt that it was indeed from Him? Can you remember how you felt when you first heard and believed it would com e to pass? There may have been an excitement that you felt and zeal to do the Lordís work because of the gratitude you felt when you received the promises of God. Even when you thought the words of the Lord were too wonderful to be real, He provided you with confirmation, causing you to rejoice in expectation of the thing HE would do in your life.
Then the pressures of life began to occur and things began to appear less like the promise would come to pass. There may have even been times when it seemed as if you were so close to an open door or entering into rest and then, the door was closed and the opportunity seemed lost. Still you believed and pressed towards the goal. But it seemed that time moved on and the promise was somehow forgotten.
Have you come to the point where you want to hold on to the word of the Lord but time has tried you and you arenít sure if this is what you are supposed to be doing. Have you come to a point where you have even begun to second guess what youíve heard? Have you prayed and prayed and it seems as if heaven is silent concerning the matter. Are you at a point where you are almost tired of hoping or exhausted from all of the disappointments? Youíve held on to the dream with clutched fists and now it seems you have pursued the dream more than you have the Lord who gave it? Now you are empty and wondering where, how or when will the blessing happen.
Well, let me tell you that everything the Lord has promised still stands. Every word spoken about you and concerning you is still good. The same God who declared your success is the same one who brought you through every test and hard place and will continue to take you through them all. The trial doesnít negate the promise instead it prepares you so that you can handle the increase of the Lord. Right now you may think you have lost a lot but the Lord has more in store for you if you wait patiently on Him. Right now you may feel like the struggle is too much for you but the Lord has a way of escape designated for you if you seek His face. Yes, the goal or the dream is still yours but the focus canít be on that. You must remain in the will of the Lord. Seek Him first and the dream will come to pass. The end result can never become more important than the Source.
Hold on to the words of the Lord. Expect the blessings but donít allow the passion for the blessing to consume you. Thank God for where you are and allow Him to prepare you for where you will be. Recognize if the door is open, itís His will. If it closes, itís still His will. When things are silent, consecrate yourself that you will hear the command of the Lord clearly and that your own desires donít interfere with His will.
Remember His word? Can you recall all of the promises He has given to us corporately as well as to you individually? Nothing has changed. Godís word is sure. If He has declared it, it has no choice but to come to pass. It will prosper the thing where He has sent it. Itís not up to the object about which the Lord has spoken, but the result is dependant on the command that was spoken. If God says you are more than a conqueror, you are, and every step you take in life is one that leads you in the path of a conqueror!
Whatís going on in your life right now? Is it big and bad enough to stop or make of non effect the Word of God? Of course not. Keep your focus by seeking the kingdom and not the things, continue praising, live a life of worship and get ready to receive all that Lord has promised you!
