“Tell me truth, O poet, where is this Land of which you speak, this land of deception?” Thus says the Poet, “it is where you walk.”
Such is the way of deceiving people. Wherever you walk or step, there lays in wait this ugly creature called deception. Especially in today’s world, it is everywhere. How can you or I know the truth in this land where we walk? Even telling the truth and getting people to believe it can be an almost tiring task. For opinions are everywhere, and as we all know, opinions are not truth. An opinion is just that, a person thinking which is spoken out loud from the heart. It is that which may seem like truth, but this is no guarantee of it being truth.
Wordweb defines truth several different ways. First it is a fact that has been verified. Second it is conformity to reality. Third it is a true statement. Finally, it is described as a quality of being near to true value. As we look we find that a fact is a fact, but not a truth until it has been verified. When we verified the fact then is truth. If a fact is not verified, then can it still be a fact. Take for instance a true account of someone who has seen a UFO. The account can be a true account of what happened. Even if he or she cannot prove it, does this make it a fact and also a truth? Or can it be just a factual event of what happened, one that is not truth because it cannot be verified. But what if suddenly we could verify UFO’s and Aliens, would their presence represent the truth? Or could it be a fact that such things exist, as such this would be true. But their existence in no way is the final authority of what is true? This is the crux of the issue. Just because an event or person can be proven to exist, this does not mean as such, they represent the last word on what is truthful!
Today we have many people that are waiting for a Messiah to arrive. The Muslims wait for Imam Mahdi, who according to the Iranian Government web site is arriving by the spring equinox with Jesus Christ alongside. We also have Benjamin Crème who is heading up Share international. They wait for Maitreya to arrive. This figure they claim is the incarnate figure of all the holy men who have been on earth. He is due to arrive at any time. Christians wait for Jesus Christ. Part of them waits for the rapture, while many others wait for the second coming. In addition to this we have the Gaia believers, Mother earth protectors, and the “higher consciousness” people as well. Everyone is waiting for something to happen. Everyone agrees that things cannot keep going on as they have been.
From the many unnatural-natural disasters that make major earthquakes, tsunamis, winter storms, hurricanes, floods, and even projected volcano eruptions, things seem to be getting out of hand. If you trace the Ufologists, some say Aliens are come to help us keep from destroying our planet. Following the Muslim beliefs, you see that Imam Mahdi is coming first to destroy all infidels and bring the world under his ruler ship. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the ultimate truth, the only way, and the one who brings eternal life. For them, his arrival is to keep man from destroying the earth and everyone in it.
The warnings we have are many. The methods to track all events are very good. We have science, ability, knowledge, and power. But in all our having, we simply cannot bring world peace or do away with sin. We cannot prevent the earth from being swallowed up in the curse. Scripture predicts the curse will devour the earth. While man tries to figure out what is happening, the Prophet Isaiah told us what is going on.
Isaiah 24:6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
We were warned by Jesus Christ himself of this time period when he discussed it in the prophetic discourses. These are found in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. He pointedly told us that this day was a day that could come upon people suddenly. They would or could be unaware of what is happening because they were so overcharged with this life and its cares. It would come as Jesus said, “Like a snare” on the whole earth. Furthermore, he also commanded us to Watch, pray always that we may be accounted worthy to escape all these things and to stand before him.
Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Jesus warned in verse eleven of chapter 21 in Luke that “fearful sights” would occur in the heavens, sights which would strike terror in people. Sights that perhaps could relate to say “UFO sightings” or the like! He also said of these occurrences known as “great signs”, such things that would be an unusual occurrence, transcending the common course of nature and it’s a normal actions. These would relate themselves to be remarkable events. Events like the tsunamis which killed thousands upon thousands in Indonesia, or even events in the heavens.
We also find in the same chapter of Luke that Jesus warned the Jews and disciples of the coming destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. He warned them and then said to them “in patience possess your souls”. This Means that the events will unfold as scripture dictates, so do not become undone by these world happenings. Men, women, and children were to trust in the living God, who through Jesus Christ gave us hope. By keeping Patience, we possess our souls. That is we don’t do something stupid or ridiculous by falling away from the faith. We were to know what is coming and stand tall in Christ. Jesus further stated to those listening that the days coming were the “days of vengeance”. These are the days when a holy God would bring punishment and reward to humans on earth for the deeds done in their body. Although the scripture passage “days of vengeance” referred to Gods punishment upon the Jews for their turning away from him, yet this same “days of vengeance” has a future prophetic sense to it. It also warns us of a day ahead when the Lord will bring vengeance or reward to all humans for their treatment of him and his word.
The Apostle Paul wrote the first chapter of Romans and it has become a very hot potato so to speak. The reason is, the Apostle pulls no punches. He warns the world in this chapter not to do the things they do. He warns against many actions and beliefs, but most of all, he sums it up in chapter two of Romans. The reason he pulls no punches is that all people will face God someday. They will be judged for what they do in this body.
Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
There is much today called truth. Truth is only truth if it verifies what the one true God is doing and wants to do. Truth is summed up by Jesus Christ. Of all the worlds so called truth, various ways, and life lived, His is the ultimate of all. For Christ said:
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by me..John 14:6
As you walk this day we live in, I remind you to do this; “in your patience possess ye your souls”. Don’t let the troubles and trials coming sway you from believing in and following the Lord Jesus Christ. The days coming others who purvey false truth, will declare other ways and a higher knowledge. All this is false; it will lead you to perdition.
There is only one truth, if you don’t believe this then the warning is clear. For those who will not receive the love of the truth, which is Jesus Christ, God will send you a strong delusion. This delusion you will believe, and this delusion will look like truth. But it will be a lie. Because you did not believe the truth God sent, but you had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Here is the Lords stern warning on the matter:
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
