Our Mother's life is fading as we breathe her name in prayer.
At times we feel so helpless though she gets the best of care.
I wish that I were there with you to share your heavy load;
You're such a loving sister and you walk a lonely road.
You've made so many sacrifices, gone the extra mile;
You do it all without complaint and always wear a smile.
I know some days it seems that you can't take another step
And when you rise to face each morn, you feel you haven't slept.
As Mother's mind slips farther in that deep and dark abyss,
We cling to precious memories of times that now we miss.
Our Mother never would have thought her life would be this way;
If she had known, she would have shown great sorrow and dismay.
And though I can't be there to help you keep our Mother calm,
I know the love you give to her is like God's healing balm.
For all the care you give to Mother while we are apart,
I can't express the thanks I feel way deep within my heart.
