The following was prepared and used at the Christmas Program in 1999....
while I was pastoring Kaumana Dr. Baptist Church in Hilo, Hawaii.
There was a gift for each of us left under the Tree of Life almost 2, 000 years ago by Him Who's Birthday we will soon celebrate.
It was made possible by the Incarnation (real meaning of Christmas)...
by the Crucifixion (real meaning of Good Friday)...
and by the Resurrection (real meaning of Easter).
This gift is withheld from NO ONE!
Some have left the package unclaimed.
Some have accepted The Gift....but carry it around and fail to remove the wrappings and look inside to discover the Hidden Splendor.
The packages are all alike - wrapped up in Jesus Christ....
Who is The Way, The Truth and The Life.
In each package is written, "All that the Father has is thine, take and live!"
I'll never understand why people celebrate Christmas...
yet do not accept the Christ of CHRISTmas...as Savior and Lord.
He is either a liar...lunatic....or Lord. You must decide.
Many intend to, but never get around to it.
Remember 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions'....
and by the 'road of by and by, you reach the house of never'.
The big problem seems to be excuses....
which lead to delay...
which leads to eternal regrets.
Excuses are 'reasons with holes in them' and God sees right through them.
That first Christmas, there was little room for Jesus.
Though we shared this song with you last week, I used it at that Christmas Program and it is very thought-provoking.

'Have You Any Room For Jesus?"
(by C.C. Williams)
Have you any room for Jesus,
He who bore your load of sin?
As He knocks and asks admission,
Sinner, will you let Him in?
Room for pleasure, room for business,
But for Christ the Crucified,
Not a place that He can enter,
In the heart for which He died?
Have you any room for Jesus,
As in grace He calls again?
O, today is time accepted,
Tomorrow you may call in vain.
Room and time now give to Jesus,
Soon will pass God’s day of grace;
Soon thy heart left cold and silent,
And thy Saviour’s pleading cease.
Refrain:
Room for Jesus, King of glory!
Hasten now, His word obey;
Swing the heart’s door widely open,
Bid Him enter while you may.
**********
For a person to say, "No room for Jesus".....
is like the ocean saying that it has no room for the tide...
or the atmosphere having no room for air....
or the forests having no room for trees.
Jesus is NOT an elective, He is a Requirement...not a luxury, but an Essential.
Augustine said, "Man is restless and will stay that way until he finds his rest in Christ."
A missionary wishing to teach unbelievers about the truth of the Resurrection of Christ said,
"Say I am traveling and come to a place where two roads meet.
I look for a guide and see two men: one dead....and the other alive.
Which should I ask for direction, the dead or the living?"
"The living of course", the people answered.
The missionary replied,
"Then why send me to someone who is dead, instead of to Christ, Who is alive?"
Christ IS CHRISTmas. But please let Him be Savior and Lord in your life EVERY day!
May you and your's have a BLESSED CHRISTmas!
