Children
About 2000 years ago, in a little village called Bethlehem was a little boy called Jude. He was a slave to wealthy cruel man. His master tortured him every day and was not given proper food. So Jude decided to run away from his master to a far away land.
One cold winter evening, Jude sneaked out of the house during his master nap. He covered his tiny, thin body with a big heavy blanket and ran towards the mountains. It was getting darker and darker and little Jude began to tremble in fear. He hadn't had a good meal for quite sometime and his stomach twitched in hunger. His torn clothes and his heavy blanket was not enough to keep him warm from the cool breeze. He tried to rest but his fear of being caught forced him to go as far as he can and as soon as he could.
Soon he became too tried to even take a step further. He laid down on the green pastures of the mountain and looked into the dark sky. He stared blankly at the stars and began to think about his horrible life. Tears rolled down his eyes as he remembered that he never had anyone to love him nor has anyone spoken a kind word to him - ever. Suddenly he noticed a bright light coming towards the mountain. He sat erect and wiped his eyes, he couldn't believe his eyes, it was not a star, it was a beautiful angel! The angel descended down to a group of shepherds who were tending their flocks a little away from Jude. The angel spoke to the terrified shepherds 'Fear not, for I have a good news for you. Today in the town of Bethlehem a Savior is born. You will find him lying in a manger'. And soon countless angels appeared and sang the most beautiful song, Jude has ever heard in his life.
The shepherds looked excited and rushed to see the baby whose birth the angels had just announced. Jude wondered who could this baby be, that the angels from heaven had come to announce! He was excited too and his hunger and cold vanished in his eagerness to see this wonder baby. So he followed the shepherds to the little manger where the baby was born. He hid himself until the shepherds left.
After sometime, Jude tip toed into the cow shed and found the baby sleeping in a manger and his parents on a heap of hay. He walked towards the manger, took the sleeping baby's tiny little hand and kissed gently. His cool lips woke the baby up. The baby looked into the eyes of Jude and smiled. At once Jude felt a warmth come over him. A stream of peace, love and joy flooded his heart and mind. He forgot all his painful past and his unbearable hunger as he gazed into the eyes of the little baby. Tears of joy rolled down his cheeks and vanished into the mud floor carrying away all his painful past.
Yes, that baby is our Saviour Jesus, who left the comforts of heaven and came down to this world to pay the price of our sins. He came into this world to restore the peace and joy which God wanted us to enjoy. This baby Jesus is our only way to Heaven.
