As of late, I have been having a very difficult
time with “religious” attitudes. It’s every where.
Arguments over insignificant things that
don’t amount to a “hill of beans” and
“holier than thou” attitudes.
So much so, I’ve just wanted to run the other way.
Petty things like, the way someone dresses,
someone’s worship style or even
how someone prays! These are
observations of numerous churches
that I have visited. Oh yes, let’s not forget the politics.
In prayer, I’ve cried and asked God, “ Why?”
I am so tired of the “spirit of religion!”
Please, teach me what I am suppose to learn
from all of this!
So in the deafening silence of the wee hours of
the morning, I heard the voice of LOVE say
to me, “ Kathy, I did not run from religion.”
I stood toe to toe and face to face with it, and
looked it square in the eye. Then I allowed
religion to nail me to the cross, for you.
Now, what are you going to do?”
No matter what “religion” does or the trials that
I may face, there is only one choice,
and that is to continue to stand firm
in my choice to follow you, Lord.

The keyboard is still in tact. Just felt the need to share this personal encounter. No matter what anyone faces, it is imperative to stay focused on the Cross. Thanks so much for the review!!
Often when sharing with folks I make the statement that "Jesus Christ saved me from Christianity"....Reading this reminded me of one of my many one-liners. You wrote this well and your despair, your frustration and wanting to "throw in the towel" were felt by this reader. Hope you didn't beat your keyboard up too badly writing this!
