Or part of it anyways! Welcome to a sort of early verse of the week. I figured while I had time I would write. This begins week one, of the two weeks of a Christmas celebration, verse of the week style :) We will be looking at a few verses about Christmas and Gods awesome promise of the saviour. And later this week look for a special study on the miracle of Hanukkah(which won't be too long, just a few words about it, since it is also a blessed holiday). This weeks verse is innuendo of better things to come......
"He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones, he has uplifted the humble."
So many things can be taken from these verses. Its so amazing how the mighty, powerful king and saviour of all came down as a humble man(baby). And its so amazing how the humility of this baby had the amazing power to humble men, rulers and kings. There is so much power in humility. Mary was humble, and poor. God used her, BOY did He use her. Mary was obedient. What if she wasn't? What if Joseph wasn't obedient? What if Jesus wasn't obedient? There is power in obedience. There is power in getting on your knees and saying "Lord, have your way with me." Great things happen. The world changes, heaven and hell move, peoples lives are forever touched. All because we as Gods chosen say YES!
I think the Lord made it easy for me this week by giving me this verse, because its so easy to write on. Mary, at her young age recognised the awesome power and sovereignty of God. There are people who are much older who do not even know God in the slightest. Its sad, He has so much to offer, salvation being the main thing, but also WE have SO much to offer Him. Sure, He could do it all on His own, no problem, but He wants His beloved children to help, he wants to live through us. To put it literally, Jesus lived through Mary! While there is only one Mary, mother of Jesus, each of us are created for a purpose. How can God use you this Christmas and the coming year? Submit to HIm. Life will be most blessed, not just our lives but the lives of others as well.
This is sort of a side note, but at the prospect of having surgery on my thyroid, i had this thought. I REALLY do not want surgery, of course, however if its Gods will that I do have surgery, maybe He can use me in the hospital to witness to others. Just by my faith. To be a light in a dark place. It doesn't sound like a real fun place to share His love, but everyone needs Jesus, especially a frightened patient or a stressed out doctor or nurse.....
God put Jesus in a manger, then as a rabbi, talking to crazy people, then He put Him on a cross......thats how Jesus shared the Fathers love. By dying......but the reward was far greater than the loss. And so is ours. he alone is the best gift, but He promised us another gift, the gift of eternity with Him and His beloved son.
MERRY CHRISTMAS --l--
